Last week I found myself complaining to the Lord. I am so thankful He does not get shocked at my selfish behavior. I was reminded of King David who knew how to express his frustrations to the Lord as well. “I poured out my complaint before Him; I shewed before him my trouble” Psalm 142:2.( KJV) I am not advocating that we go around murmuring and complaining, for that truly will get us into trouble as it did the Jewish nation. What I am saying is that we need to learn to speak into each situation with boldness and faith and not with bemoaning in our heart. Did you know that in the Bible when people murmured, God sent fiery serpents among them? My complaint to the Lord last week was about my dear friend who had come to know the Lord and seemed to slip back into her old patterns again. I had prayed a lot for her, but nothing was happening, and my prayers seemed to be in vain. Then all of a sudden, unknown to her, and while she was at home I had this urgent and holy drive to speak to her about her life and the situations in her home. Out loud I spoke the blood of Jesus over my friend’s household and in my spirit I applied the blood of Jesus to the door posts of her house and asked the Lord to cover the house with a blanket of blood. You may think this is strange and I must admit it is. In the Old Testament when the Jewish nation was in slavery God had promised to set them free, but Pharaoh would not let the Jewish nation go free until God sent the death angel to kill every firstborn in Egypt. God required the Jews to apply a lamb’s blood to their door post. That night the death angel came and killed all the first-born in Egypt, but He passed by anyone who had applied the blood on the doorposts and no one was killed in any of those homes. Exodus12.
The next day after I had pleaded the blood over my dear friend’s home, she came to church and had a great power encounter with the Holy Spirit. She shared with us that this was the biggest “ high” she had ever experienced in her life. She had been a drug addict several years ago, so she knew what she was talking about. Again, I realized not only the power of the blood, but speaking things into being the things God wants to heal and restore through His precious blood because of our speaking into the situation. Needless to say my heart leaped with joy when I witnessed a living demonstration of the power of speech and words spoken through the blood of Jesus.
In the Bible we have a great example of how life was created through the prophet speaking powerful words to some dry and dead bones. Ezekiel 37:1-11 (( NLT)”…. the LORD took hold of me, and I was carried away by the Spirit of the LORD to a valley filled with bones. 2 He led me around among the old, dry bones that covered the valley floor. They were scattered everywhere across the ground. 3 Then he asked me, “Son of man, can these bones become living people again? O Sovereign LORD,” I replied, “You alone know the answer to that.” 4 Then He said to me, “Speak to these bones and say, ‘Dry bones, listen to the word of the LORD! 5 This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Look! I am going to breathe into you and make you live again! 6 I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’” 7 So I spoke these words, just as He told me. Suddenly as I spoke, there was a rattling noise all across the valley. The bones of each body came together and attached themselves as they had been before. 8 Then as I watched, muscles and flesh formed over the bones. Then skin formed to cover their bodies, but they still had no breath in them. 9 Then He said to me, “Speak to the winds and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come, O breath, from the four winds! Breathe into these dead bodies so that they may live again.’” 10 So I spoke as He commanded me, and the wind entered the bodies, and they began to breathe. They all came to life and stood up on their feet — a great army of them. 11 Then He said to me, “Son of man, these bones represent the people of Israel. They are saying, ‘We have become old, dry bones — all hope is gone.
In this passage God performed creative miracles because the words were spoken with faith and authority. I deeply believe that whenever we have that deep sense to speak to situations, it is actually Him speaking through us to the situation and He delights to perform His own miracles through His own words and show Himself off to the world around us.
Below is a picture of dry bones in the valley.
We have a picture here of some dry and dead bones in a valley. The bones are surrounded by fire representing the life of God. The Lord wants you to know that He has given you authority to speak in His name over each dead circumstance, to every desperate and hopeless situation . His desire is to give life and new hope for each circumstance and speak His new resurrection life into each doubtful question and problem.
